Since the leap year launch of this resource in February, Lifewords has distributed over 200 Little Bricks throughout the UK and beyond.
Churches, charities and organisations have shared how our Little Brick of Little Books is bringing hope and transformation to the individuals they support. Whether gifting, ordering, requesting or restocking a Little Brick, many have joined us in laying the foundation of our Little Brick project. Some have even chose to gift a Little Brick after having requested, received and benefitted from the Little Books themselves.
Chaplaincies
The Little Brick of Little Books is helping people to engage with the words of the Bible in prisons, schools, debt centres, supported housing, youth groups, rehabilitation centres, universities and hospital wards.
Melissa shared: “As a Mental Health Chaplain of a large Trust, we have many people who are seeking to continue their faith in difficult and often confusing and painful circumstances, as well as those who because of those circumstances are looking to renew their seeking. We have found these resources to be welcomed and well received by our patients. These resources are just right for individuals whose concentration is highly compromised as they recover. Time and again, the responses from those using these books is they find God within the pages. Our patients will return to their communities knowing that hospital is not the end of their journey but a small part, and that God did not leave them alone at a time when they felt the most vulnerable.”
Hilary Edgerton from HMP Buckley Hall shared: “I am impressed by how beautifully the Little Bricks are put together and how each is so different. It’s great to have this resource. So many men in the prison are willing to consider faith and these Little Books which provide verses or quotes that they can think about and chew on, can be really helpful.” Another prison chaplain said that “this will be a valuable resource used to minister to the men in prison”, and cited Matthew 25:36 in their thank you message: “I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Churches
Many churches have started sharing Lifewords resources in the form of the Little Brick of Little Books too. Gateway Church in York is one of those churches. A number of Little Bricks were gifted by members of the congregation towards the church's initiatives.
When gifting the Little Brick, one church member shared: "These resources would be fantastic for our outreach ministry ‘The Atrium’ as we have many visitors accessing our drop in cafe where people can find connection and community, and have the opportunity to explore faith."
Sarah, who oversees the children’s groups and leads the Atrium team at Gateway Church, said that the Little Bricks "have been well received in our community cafe with a number of people taking an interest and some taking one away." She continued: "The model of getting congregation members to buy them for us has also been very well received and has given us some inspiration for ways we could involve our congregation more in giving practical gifts to our ministry."
Laura Treener from Holland Road Baptist Church shared: “The Little Books are one of the few things that my kids really engage with. Our church have found these books to be so helpful for young people and those who are curious about faith. It's such a beautiful way to share the words of the bible. Lifewords place a really high value on the quality of the design and production of its resources. This makes all the difference and is so vital in bringing the Bibles words to life.”
Young People
The Little Brick is being utilised in schools and youth groups too, and many have found that young people have responded very well to our Little Book resources.
Paul from a school in Bolton reflected: “As a chaplaincy within a busy and large high school, we are looking for ways to get Scripture out to staff and students which would be eye catching and engaging. We already use many of Lifewords’ Little Books in school and they have proved to be popular. Thank you so much for helping us to continue to get Scripture out to those at a critical age, who often struggle to find where they fit, their purpose, and if God is real or not. This will enable more chances for students to access Scriptures and hope in a really eye catching way and sow seeds of faith and hope into lives.”
Dean who works for Crumlin Youth For Christ shared: “We work with marginalised and at-risk young people with no or limited church connection. This resource will enable us to help young people engage with the Bible in a manageable way without them feeling overwhelmed.”
As the summer holidays draw near, many people are getting ready for summer youth camps and a number of Little Bricks will be heading out with youth leaders to these camps. We pray that many young people would be blessed by the good news shared within the Little Bricks.
100 Bricks
If Lifewords Little Books can bring hope and comfort across these settings, then perhaps the Little Brick of Little Books is just what your organisation or ministry needs to help the people you serve to find accessible ways into the Bible.
Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, Lifewords has 100 of its new Little Brick of Little Books resource to gift to churches, ministries and organisations. The resource is offered fully stocked with 48 of Lifewords popular Little Books (eight of each of the six titles in the series). We are inviting individuals, teams and ministries to apply for a brick by sharing how the resource would make an impact through their ministry and work.
